The We Can Foundation is dedicated to transforming the lives of underprivileged children in Mumbai’s slum areas through education and empowerment. With a mission to break the cycle of poverty, the foundation nurtures young minds, instilling confidence, essential life skills, and a sense of social responsibility.

Operating in Gorai, Borivali West, the organization not only focuses on academics but also ensures basic necessities like a daily nutritional snack and groceries for the month for every family, ensuring no child goes to bed hungry.

A meaningful education enables children to reach their greatest potential. Yes, the process is slow and we need to be patient.  In addition to our regular educational sessions for the children that focusses on their school academics as well, we also expose them to a building up of the self through positive thinking, silent sitting and meditation, physical exercises and games as also visits to places that will enhance their experiences and learning. We focus on the body, mind and spirit or soul which is the essence of a good, meaningful education.  Every teaching win student success and lightbulb moments that we have experienced is because of the the choices that we made for our kids as we marched them along towards their fullest potential. This journey is not yet over……. It’s a process.

Our journey so far  has been amazing , rewarding and challenging. Many children chose to move up the ladder and today are well settled not necessarily with a lot of material wealth but wisdom. Wisdom to decipher between hard work and mediocrity, between self confidence and the lack of it, and a self determination to rise after every fall.

The last academic year saw 5 of our children scoring first classes, above 70% for their Board exams. It was a hundred percent first class as all 5 who appeared got a first class.In the past 10 years, 43 children have passed their tenth std, 36 their SSC and 15 are continuing with their graduation.

Success stories like Santosh, now pursuing chartered accountancy, and Mahesh, excelling in his studies, highlight the impact of their work. From subjects like mathematics and English to art and sports, We Can Foundation empowers students to follow their dreams. Special celebrations like Diwali at McDonald’s and a Christmas party in collaboration with a Rotary Club foster a strong community spirit. The foundation’s dedication to compassion, equality, and education continues to create brighter futures for all. Together, We Can empower and uplift.
